Angie and Zal’s first encounter occurs amidst a chaotic school shooting. Zal, a recent recipient of the Rupert Scholarship for high scientific achievement, is engrossed in solving a complex mathematical equation in an empty classroom when Angie bursts in, seeking refuge from the gunfire. In a blend of terror and unintended humor, they both scramble into a closet to hide. Seizing the moment, Angie utilizes her ability to astral project, leaving her physical body behind to investigate the identity of the shooter.
